Description Tram Towers on the Newton Lineā€”The No. 1 Aerial Tram Line was that to the Newton Mine on the edge of Beatie Gulch. It passed through scrub cedar and sagebrush, but the terrain was such that short towers were required in a number of places to level the line. So short were they that the buckets could be grabbed in passing. Since this part of the line operated by gravity rather than electricity, no power poles followed it. A brake at the bunker could slow or stop the tram here.
